Marine Skills Apprentice Skills Training Programme

The Marine Apprentice Skills Training Programme was successfully completed by 53 students in Grenada on March 21, 2005.  The Programme was the result of the collaborative efforts of the Marine and Yachting Association of Grenada and USAID/CARANA.

The course was six weeks in duration and lecturers were sourced from the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College in Tortola, BVI - Clive Petrovic, Laurens Blok and Maurice Marchand.  The programme's course work included tourism theory, the history of the marine tourism sector, environmental considerations, marine engineering and technology, yacht maintenance and maritime studies.

All trainees were placed in business places related to the program to gain exposure to working in the sector.
