TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

One of the aims of the Caribbean Marine Association is to improve the training and development of skills of the nationals of member islands.  The CMA wishes to encourage Governments to provide resources for training establishments within the marine industry.

Within the Caribbean a number of privately funded organisations offer courses in various aspects of the marine industry but most often in skills related to the recreational side of the industry.  Few organisations offer meaningful courses in the skilled mechanical, electrical & electronic, woodworking, sailing making and modern materials side of the repair and maintenance sectors of the Caribbean marine industry.  The CMA is working to increase the training facilities within the Caribbean which will lead to greater employment for Caribbean nationals.
